I do the same, but technically, the hats are the best headpieces for my 600-900 monk as they have no armor, but yeah I know what you mean.
Ok, this year's hats are not too bad, but certainly not something I would die for sorta speak. Nevertheless new hats are better than recycled ones.

Cute hats this time around. Nice work. Picked up my Rudi hat in the first event (and 27 gifts ) and will get the Grenthy Grentch hat at next showing.
The Rudi hat may even take its place as favourite hat of mine. The Yule '05 cap has been my favourite for a loooooong time. (With the '06 yule hat being fail on a stick. I mean, seriously. No-one looks good in it. ahem)
But yes! Cute hats. ^_^

Not neccessarily, you miss out on the +1 attribute bonus. Getting hit on the head is like a 1/8th chance and usually the attack is strong enough to deal over 60.

A little off topic, but if the duo smiter has 18 points in smite, he can do around 80 points of damage back with holy wrath + retribution. He buff's it up with 'by ural's hammer' just before the aaxtes or smites hit you and he does 105 damage back.
This means your health must be at least 800, so protective spirit allows you to get 80 damage instead of 60. You don't need the +1 headpiece bonus, just need two major runes, one of divine, the other protection, + one sup vigor. If you set this up you only need shoes and pants (to get +2 pips of regen) and a headgear so you can put 3 runes on. As the chest piece gets most of the hits, I just don't wear one. So if I need a headgear, I still prefer one with no armor instead of + 15 (because I don't have my starter armor anymore), even though it only has 1/8 chance to get hit.
But you're wright, it is not that a big deal, I just wanne get everything out of it, even if it's only 5 more damage every 8 hits.

Well, just like last year, I liked one of the hats. :P Last year it was Dwayna's wreath, this time it's Grenth's cute cap.

I'm not wild about either hat, but they are cute. I give ArenaNet folks kudos for originality. I've never seen anything like them before.

I would've wanted 4 masks instead of 2, but these are great and I'm very pleased. Thanks Anet.

Are the events late/missing some districts? I slept through 2 events, but I only have 1 hat. And D9 kamadan still doesn't have any gods at 9:11 AM EST.
Edit: There they are! 15 minutes late. I'm blamin hangovers.

Yea i know, i went to LA at 9:08 and just barely made it to get my rudi hat, then some people in my alliance tell me that Kamadan hasn't gotten their hats yet so I port there and the event starts! Horray for not having to wait 3 hrs to get one hat, perhaps 6 hours if I had not made that one in LA... =)

I think it's worth poining out two things here.
1) Kamadan will be 15 minutes later than Lion's Arch.
2) Districts have to exist for 10, 15 minutes before the event, in order to get the gods. (I wish I could give a source for this, but I remember hearing it first hand at a Gaile or Regina chat / wiki page. If anyone can give the source, or have proof I'm jibbering nonsense then please do so! ^_^) So if you join a district too far down you may not get a hat. Go for a middle-ish district.

The hats are original and cute.. by no means an epic fail like last years hats.
All in all, I give this Wintersday an A+ for all the new content, tonics and summoning stones.
Thank you Anet for another wonderful event

Grenth hat is awesome, but still I think that last years ice crown is one of the best of wintersday.

Yep,glad it's better than the wreath that looked like a birthday cake.
I don't think the grentch hat looks that bad really. I'll get mine sometime today.

I liked the hats but wish the events would be a little bit more.. creative (like the Mad King event). Still, it's nice that they had some new designs for the hats and new tonics for us this year.
